3)Chelsea v West Brom Preview (Saturday 20 August 5.30 pm)
Chelsea Pre-Match Report Chelsea will be looking to get their campaign up and running having been held by Stoke last Sunday. The Blues gave a lively display last week and will have been pleased by the performance of under-fire striker Fernando Torres. The form book is fully in Chelsea’s favour this weekend – West Brom have lost all 10 of their Premier League meetings with Chelsea.Number-one keeper Petr Cech has been ruled out for up to four weeks with a knee injury and therefore Villas-Boas must decide whether to choose Hilario or Ross Turnbull to start in goal. New signing Romelu Lukaku could make his debut but David Luiz remains out with a thigh injury whilst Daniel Sturridge is suspended and Michael Essien is a long-term absentee. Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka could be restored to the starting line-up having bagged eight goals and four goals respectively in their last seven against the Baggies.
Predicted Team: Turnbull, Bosingwa, Terry, Alex, Cole, Ramires, Lampard, Mikel, Drogba, Torres, Anelka.
West Brom Pre-Match Report
Roy Hodgson’s men opened up their Premier League season with an unlucky 2-1 defeat to champions Manchester United last weekend but would have taken heart from their performance. Despite their terrible recent record against Chelsea, The Baggies have won five, drawn five and lost just three of their last Premier League games. The visitors will welcome back top-scorer from last season Peter Odemwingie to the squad but he is likely to start on the bench. Jerome Thomas will definitely miss out with a hip problem but Steven Reid has recovered from a leg injury. Central defender Gareth McAuley has been struggling with a virus but could make the bench.
Predicted Team: Foster, Reid, Olsson, Tamas, Shorey, Mulumbu, Scharner, Tchoyi, Morrison, Brunt, Long.
